Active Board Members speak at the CHFA 2014 Report Launch.

Ms Estelle Fyffe, CEO of annecto and Active Board member and Active CEO Chris Glennen were recently speakers at the launch of the “Providing Housing for People with a Disability Report” at NDS Victoria office on the 10th October 2014.

The NDIS represents a once in a lifetime investment and change in how services will be delivered to people with disability. The NDIS will provide individualised funding packages to pay for ‘reasonable and necessary’ support and other costs to all working aged Australians with disability, allowing them control and choice in the type of services they purchase. For many people with disability this will mean they will be able to access the support they need to live independently. Active Community Housing fully support the NDIS as it will allow our tenants better and fairer access to housing.

This report was prepared by the Community Housing Federation of Australia and considers the issues and challenges facing the NDIS and community housing providers when delivering housing for people with disability under NDIS arrangements. This is a very useful primer on the issues involved and hopefully can inform the debates which will emerge when the NDIA housing consultation paper is distributed.
