Highlights from Tenant Quality Survey

We recently completed our annual Active Tenant Quality Survey 2019 and we are pleased to share a few of the results with you.

A total of 67 questionnaires were completed and returned, representing a return rate of one-quarter (24%) of current tenancies.

Merger to Deliver More Homes and Services for People with a Disability

Annual Tenant Quality Survey

We are currently collecting results for the Annual Tenant Quality Survey.

Each year Active commissions an independent confidential tenant survey. Ranging from maintenance services through to overall treatment of all tenants, the quality feedback survey asks our tenants to tell us how satisfied they are with our services. The survey includes 12 questions and extensive opportunities for further comments.

Active on the move to Preston

After many happy years in Yarraville, Active Community Housing Ltd is on the move to Preston. This move is very much in line with Active’s development from a specialist disability housing company to one that provides a range of accommodation related services to people with disabilities and their families across Victoria.

Our new offices are located on Level 1 / 52-56 Mary St Preston. Our phone number 9314 8555 and email reception@activechl.com.au remains the same. Our new offices will provide more professional presentation and amenity for our tenants, staff, trades, contractors and many others who visit our offices.

New Townhouses in Ballarat

Active are pleased to be working with Carra Developments and Life Without Barriers on this project to provide new SDA accommodation in Ballarat.

The 11 brand new purpose-built 2 bedroom townhouses are for NDIS SDA participants. Life Without Barriers are providing 24-7 support and Active will be the property and tenancy managers to ensure that people with disabilities have quality housing and a responsive social housing landlord.

Now seeking tenants for St Albans accommodation

We are pleased to advise we are now seeking tenants for the St Albans accommodation, situated at the corner of and Browne Avenue and Kerry Court.

The units are currently being built and we expect SDA participants to move in during October 2018. They are built to a high standard of finish and located in a quiet residential setting with each 59 square meter unit including fully accessible bedroom, bathroom and living area. Each unit also has a private courtyard.

St Albans accommodation almost at completion

The St Albans’ Specialist Disability Accommodation is on schedule to be completed in August this year. Active is proud to welcome our new Manager of Housing and Partnerships, Gabriella Browne, whose role will be critical to the successful completion of the project.

The project, located in Melbourne’s west, will deliver four disability accommodation houses to help cater for the growing demand from NDIS participants in the area.

Celebration of construction progress of four NDIS specialist homes in St Albans

Minister Martin Foley was our welcome guest on the 14th February at our celebration to mark construction of our NDIS housing at Browne Ave St Albans.

This was a great morning when our partners gathered to celebrate this NDIS innovations project which will deliver four high physical support one bedroom villa units and an onsite staff unit for people with disabilities in Melbourne’s western region. The units are scheduled for completion in August 2018.

Our inclusion on the SWEP panel of service providers means we can reach more people across the state, and as a non profit organization, all our funds go back to more housing for people with disability or experiencing disadvantage.

You may be aware that Active have been providing home modifications in our own houses for 20 years. What you may not know, is that last year we started our Better Home Better Lives modifications service which is now available across Victoria and we have recently been appointed to the Ballarat Health Services/State-wide Equipment Program panel.

2016-17 has been a year of evolution and change for Active. Active was developed by the Victorian disability sector in 1998 to provide high quality housing and related services to people with disabilities. Traditionally we have provided long term community housing, rooming houses and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) with each dwelling linked to a community support partner.

Important Message on Marriage Equality

Active Community Housing supports marriage equality. We believe it is a basic human right for everyone. We recognise the right of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI) tenants, employees and members of our community, to live and work free of prejudice and discrimination. This includes the right to marry the partner of their choice.

For 18 years Active has provided housing and support for people with disabilities who require support to live in the community, including people from the LGBTQI community.
