Minister Martin Foley was our welcome guest on the 14th February at our celebration to mark construction of our NDIS housing at Browne Ave St Albans.
This was a great morning when our partners gathered to celebrate this NDIS innovations project which will deliver four high physical support one bedroom villa units and an onsite staff unit for people with disabilities in Melbourne’s western region. The units are scheduled for completion in August 2018.
Active has received funding through the last three Commonwealth and Victorian government innovations funding round to provide this style of independent units with 24 hour on site support.
As with all our work this development was achieved through a broad partnership with: annecto our support partner who helped initiate the project and will provide onsite care and support to our residents, Community Sector Banking who provided part finance, Victorian government who transferred the land to Active and the Commonwealth who provided $448,000 partial funding under the NDIS SDA Innovations grant program.
This was a great chance to recognise that working in partnership we can achieve SDA housing so people with significant support needs can fulfil their dream of secure, affordable long term housing in communities of their choosing.
We look forward to returning for an even bigger event in December when we can celebrate people settling into their new homes and the St Albans neighbourhood.
