Minister Mary Wooldridge officially opened our Commonwealth SAIF funded homes in Whittlesea in July 2014. This occasion was celebrated by Active Board members, tenants, local residents, community organisations staff, Active and our partner Life Without Barriers staff.

The opening day was the culmination of two years’ work where Active Community Housing was determined to provide individualised units of accommodation built to shared supported accommodation standards to ensure safety and a high standard of accommodation for clients and staff alike.

The Welcome to the Country Ceremony by Mr Ian Hunter, Wurundjeri elder who lives in Whittlesea, set a wonderfully humorous and welcoming tone which was carried throuhout the opening celebration.

A great time was had by all – tenants, partners and staff alike.
